GP-Style Inquiry Screens for Business Central

Publisher: G2 Systems Group | Version: 1.1.26.0 | Platform: Business Central 26.0+

1. Overview

GP-Style Inquiry Screens brings the familiar Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) inquiry experience to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. If your team has migrated from GP to Business Central, this extension provides the same period-balance views, aging buckets, open transaction lists, and drilldown capabilities your users already know.

6. Troubleshooting

The GP-Style Inquiry action does not appear on the Vendor / Customer / GL Account page

Ensure the extension is installed and that the user's browser cache is cleared. Try pressing Ctrl+Shift+R to force a full reload.

I receive a permission error when opening an inquiry screen

Assign one of the GS2 INQUIRY permission sets to the user (see Permissions above). The user must also have standard Business Central read permissions on the relevant master tables and ledger entries.

Period balances are missing or show zero

Verify that accounting periods are defined for the fiscal year you are querying. Search for Accounting Periods in Business Central and confirm the periods exist.

The inquiry screen opens but shows no data

Confirm you have selected a valid record in the header filter area. If the record picker is blank, click the lookup (or press F4) and select an account, vendor, customer, or other master record.

Data does not match what I see in standard BC pages

All inquiry screens read directly from the same Business Central ledger tables; there is no separate data store. If you see a discrepancy, verify that any open batches or journals have been posted.
